Nobody wants to hear that they need to get a root canal. When the worst case scenario becomes a reality, it’s good to know that you have a doctor and staff who care about your well being. Endodontic procedures require a steady hand and a lot of experience not only because we keep the patient’s comfort in mind, but also because one small mistake can have disastrous consequences. If you sense an extremely sharp pain when chewing or applying pressure to a tooth, see a dentist immediately. If a tooth continues to be in pain with hot or cold temperatures long after the source has been removed, you may very well need a root canal. Other signs such as a darkening of a tooth, swelling and tenderness of the gums, or a pimple on the gums indicate that you may need a root canal. As terrifying as it sounds, sometimes there are no symptoms associated with an infected root. Visit your dentist early and often in order to prevent an infection in the root pulp!

We can’t stress this enough: if you think you have an infected tooth, please see your dentist immediately! If an infected root is left for too long, swelling can occur in other parts of the face, head or neck or patients may suffer bone loss in the jaw.
